Although Jaime Foxx's Electro plays the central villain in the upcoming "Amazing Spider-Man 2," fans shouldn't forget about another formidable foe that Spider-Man will have to face. Last week, fans caught a glimpse of what appeared to be Paul Giamatti's stunt double in pre-Rhino transformation gear. The picture was taken moments before a stunt scene where a tow truck pulls an Oscorp truck through a barricade of cars. Typical Spidey action. Today, Marc Webb has unveiled the first photo of the real Giamatti, sweaty, dirty, and angry.
Giamatti plays Aleksei Mikhailovich, also know as The Rhino. The photo proves that the movie strays from the original comic book image, but Giamatti appears to be as ruthless as ever, something he's usually not known for. Check out the photo above, featuring a road raged Giamatti decked with prison tattoos.
The sequel will feature Andrew Garfield reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, while Emma Stone will return as his forbidden love, Gwen Stacy. DeHaan joins the cast as Harry Osborne, and has reportedly been bulking up in preparation for the role, while Shailene Woodley will play Mary-Jane Watson. Foxx and Giamatti will co-star as the film's villains, playing Electro and The Rhino respectively.
In "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," for Peter Parker, life is busy - between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen, high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away - but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro, emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
