A potential health scare in France has been averted, as alleged cases of the coronavirus have proven to be negative, according to Reuters. The SARS-like virus was reported to have infected three people who came into contact with the disease, but one has tested negative to the virus while the other two cases have results pending.
The virus infected one 65 year old man in Lille, located in Northern France. The man came into contact with a doctor, nurse, and a third medical professional, but the virus has proven to be unable to be passed on with human-to-human transmission. The man got the virus after a trip to the Arabian Peninsula, specifically the United Arab Emirates. Since then reported cases of the coronavirus have been reported in France, Germany, and Britain. The main carrier of the disease is birds and some mammals.
The World Health Organization has the total infection cases of the coronavirus that have been confirmed to 33, after two more men in Saudi Arabia were diagnosed with the disease. Coronavirus is a variant of the SARS virus, which stands for severe acute respiratory syndrome, is a deadly virus that can be fatal to humans. There is no cure for the virus yet, so those diagnosed with SARS and the coronavirus will have to be isolated and treated for their symptoms, but not the actual disease. The man with the coronavirus in France is currently in isolation, and those who have come into contact with him, such as family and friends, and been isolated as well until there tests results for the virus can be determined.
The 2003 SARS outbreak of 2003 that brought the disease to the attention of the worldwide media, and since then scientists and doctors have been attempting to find a cure for the disease. However, the human body does not recognize the virus as a foreign invader, but instead assumes it is part of the body, so the immune system does not respond.
