The third season of "Game of Thrones" proves what most fans already knew: Kings Landing is a disgusting, deceitful pit of despair. While its impoverished rot within city walls, those who are responsible for their well-being care for nothing but the control of power and wealth. The entire city is on the brink of self-destruction, and with only four episodes left, something's got to give. And who's at the head of King Landing's treachery? King Joffrey.

As many fans can agree, King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) is the worst of them all. He's a parasitic megalomaniac whose insecurities have led to a vicious taste for blood. He needs to go. He can't sit atop the Iron Throne forever. Westeros would crumble into ashes. So just how much longer will fans have to deal with his treachery? How many more innocent people does he have to murder?

Well, if the show sticks close to the books, we may see King Joffrey bite the dust by the end of the season, or at least in season 4, according to Wetpaint. "A Storm of Swords," the third book in the "Game of Thrones" saga, is divided between the third and fourth seasons, so it's not entirely clear when the events that take place in the book will take place in the television series, however the creators have stuck close to the story's plotline. That being said, in "A Storm of Swords," someone poisons Joffrey on his wedding day. It's unclear who poisons the young king, but whoever does has the right idea.

Joffrey's isn't the only wedding that takes place in "A Storm of Swords." We'll also see the arranged marriage between Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), most likely in episode 8. Then in episode 9, we're likely to see Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies) and Roslin Frey's (Alexandra Dowling) wedding as well, another arranged marriage essentially to the Stark's hope of winning the war.

At last, there's Joffrey's, known as the Purple Wedding. Based on the timeline, his death will come in season 4, however it would serve as quite the dramatic finale to season 3. What a fantastic note to end on.

"Game of Thrones" airs Sunday nights on HBO.
