The Boston Bruins will look to close out their series with the Toronto Maples when the two teams meet on Friday in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
The Bruins got off to a poor start in Game 4, but were rescued by the heroics of center David Krejci. Krejci scored the final three goals for Boston, including a game winner in overtime to earn his team a 4-3 win and a 3-1 series lead.
"Honestly, it's nice," Krejci said of his performance. "On the first goal, I just went to the net and I don't know if it hit me or not. I went hard to the net and then saw the puck lying in the net. On the other two goals, it was [Nathan] Horton making two huge plays. On one, he set me up for a one-timer and on the overtime goal, he took a huge hit to make a play. It was all him."
Krejci now leads the NHL with five goals and 10 points in four playoff games.
The result was heartbreaking for Toronto, especially after the team blew a 2-0 lead and came back from a 3-2 deficit.
"We worked hard and left everything out there," Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul said. "It really felt like we were putting a lot of pressure on the Bruins and to be honest, on the bench it felt like it was just a matter of time before we got one. Obviously it hurts a lot, but we did a lot of things right and the series isn't over. We feel like we are playing better and better. We'll be ready to go in Game 5."
"It feels like a dagger after the effort that was put forth by our group," added Toronto Coach Randy Carlyle about the overtime loss.
Prediction: Boston closes out the series with an emphatic 4-1 win.
