Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams is reportedly suing his ex-fiancee Erin Marzouki to re-claim the 10-carat engagement ring worth $785,000 he gave to her after the couple broke up early this year.

Williams, who's entering the second year of his six-year, $96 million deal with the Bills, gave the ring to Marzouki in February of 2012 but she eventually called off the weeding last January.

In his lawsuit, Williams alleges that his former fiancée never had the intention to marry him in the first place and was just using him for cash and gifts.

According to Buffalo News correspondent Dan Herbeck, Williams' lawsuit also invoked the existence of an agreement binding Marzouki to give the engagement ring back to the football player once the marriage was called off.

Texas Law requires the ring to be delivered back to its original owner in case of a breach of the marriage engagement by the donee. Therefore, Williams' lawyers are asserting their client's right to recover the ring from Marzouki.

ESPN's Darren Rovell reported that Williams bought the expensive ring out of the 3 percent of the guaranteed money ($24 million) he got after signing the lucrative contract with the Bills.

Aside from the ring, Williams also alleges his former girlfriend of spending $108,000 on a credit card he gave to her and receiving additional gifts worth $230,000.

Several football followers believe Williams really took the break-up to the heart that he's really eager to claim back all the money he spent just to please Marzouki during the span of their relationship.

Williams, who recorded 46 tackles and 10.5 sacks last season with the Bills, is nowhere near bankruptcy as he is expected to pocket a base salary of $6.5 million and other bonuses next season. He's also set to earn more dollars in the coming seasons, if the Bills continue to use his service.

Meanwhile, Marzouki and her lawyers remain silent about the issues as of the moment.
