In anticipation for "Star Trek Into Darkness," Audi released a new commercial for the Audi S7 in which it reunited Leonard Nimoy and Zahchary Quinto.
The two actors who portray Spock in "Star Trek" face off against each other in the commercial. The car ad features Leonard Nimoy, who played the Vulcan for two decades in the original series as well as in half a dozen movies, and newcomer Zachary Quinto, who played Spock in the 2009 reboot and the upcoming film "Star Trek Into Darkness."
In the ad, Nimoy makes fun of Quinto for losing a game of chess, and Quinto challenges the victor to a round of golf and a race to the country club.
Quinto says "Whoever gets to the club last buys lunch." Nimoy responds "Stand by to have your wallet emptied by a tractor beam," While riding in his car Nimoy treats fans of "The Lord of the Rings" to a sing-along of his campy tune "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins," which he released on his second album in the late 1960s.
When Quinto beats Nimoy to the club, Nimoy tries to avoid the shame of defeat by reprising his oft-quoted final scene in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan." Nimoy says "I have been and always shall be your friend."
The Audi car was previously featured in "Iron Man 3" and is slated to also appear in "Fast and Furious 6"
Quinto was last seen in "Margin Call," "Girls Walk Into a Bar" and is currently appearing in "American Horror Story."He is set to appear in "The Invitation."
Nimoy was last seen in "Star Trek" and "Fringe." He also voices the video game "Kingdom Hearts" and was a sentinel in Transformers: Dark of the Moon". He also voiced a role in "Zambrezia."
"Star Trek Into Darkness" opens in the U.S. on May 17 and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence.
