Producer Bryan Burk revealed that "Star Wars Episode VII" will start filming in 2014.
Burk, who also produced "Star Trek Into Darkness," is currently working alongside Kathleen Kennedy on the schedule for the new film.
Burk told the Collider, "We're progressing on a schedule to hopefully begin next year, or the beginning of next year, and the location is still kind of floating around in the air all depending on script and a whole bunch of other issues. As I just said, everything is kind of a free-flowing thing, and when we feel like the story level on this script and everything is really coming together and schedules are all working and pieces line up, we prowl ahead, and Star Wars will be no different."
When asked about the level of anticipation, Burk told the online journal, "I mean, it's Star Wars. It's something that obviously has successfully been handed down from generation to generation in the last 40 years. If I weren't working on the project, I'd have the same interest as everyone else because it's something that I, too, am looking forward to seeing where the franchise goes next."
The film is currently in pre-production with J.J Abrams attached to direct. Recently, a source stated the film would likely shoot in Scotland because of its beautiful terrain. Abrams also revealed that John Williams would most likely return to score the iconic series and that he would be collaborating with George Lucas on the new film.
Casting has yet to begin but many celebrities, including Dwayne Johnson, Diane Kruger and Keri Russell, have showed interest in Star Wars and have stated that they would like to audition for a role.
"Star Wars Episode 7" is rumored to star Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford. Michael Arndt will write the film and Disney will release it in 2015.
