"Star Wars Episode VII" is gearing up to shoot in The Island of Skye in Scotland.
According to a source the location scouts are looking at Scotland because they believe it has stunning scenery. The source stated "Location bosses feel Scotland possesses stunning scenery perfect for movie backdrops. They will look great on the big screen, and the rock formations will replicate the perception of mountainous planets."
He added, "It will be the first time Star Wars has ever been shot north of the border."
If the film is shot in Scotland it would be the latest blockbuster following "The Dark Knight Rises," and "Skyfall" to shoot there.
The film is currently in pre-production with J.J Abrams attached to direct. Abrams recently stated that he is a bit worried about directing the film because he does not want to let fans down. He added that he will be as authentic as possible when it comes to making the film. He also stated that he had not started thinking about it until he finished all of his commitments with "Star Trek Into Darkness." When asked about returning to "Star Trek" Abrams also said that he did not think the studio would wait for him even though he would like to return. He added that he would still produce but that it was too early to tell what was going to happen.
Recently Abrams also revealed that John Williams would most likely return to score the iconic series. Casting has yet to begin but Dwyane Johnson, Diane Kruger and Keri Russell have recently showed interest in Star Wars and have stated that they would like to audition for a role.
"Star Wars Episode 7" will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, and is rumored to star Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford. Michael Arndt will write the film and Disney will release it in 2015.
