The main question surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo is whether he would leave Real Madrid this summer. Another question surrounding him has been whether Manchester United would be in his plans.

The hype about this potential move has died down in recent weeks, but a new report indicates that United is back on the table as an option for the Portuguese superstar.

According to Caught Offside and Express, Ronaldo would have no qualms about returning to Manchester United. Apparently the team has no problem with bringing him back. Caught Offside writes that "28 year old [Ronaldo] has told a senior Man United player that he would consider the possibility of a move back to the club he spent six seasons with prior to his £80m move to the Spanish giants in 2009."

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson also indicated that the team would consider adding a top player to the roster.

"If I was to ask about going for a certain player now, I think they would do it. There has been a wind change. I could maybe go for a top player, if that's possible," Ferguson said. "It doesn't matter where they play - if you get a top player in it improves it. We had Chicharito Hernandez, Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney last summer, but we still signed Robin Van Persie."

He added, "We've won the league because we've got a good, strong squad and I think we'll add to it."

The most telling statement is "there has been a wind change." Back in March, Ferguson stated that acquiring Ronaldo was an unlikely proposition.

"There hasn't been anything to encourage me to think Cristiano would come back here... As far as I am aware, there is nothing in it at all.

"Ronaldo has got two years left on his contract and it seems to me it is all part of the negotiations that are going on about a new deal," Ferguson noted. "Maybe his agent is playing the game. I think it is false hope."

It looks like that false hope could be a dream come true for Manchester United fans.
