International pop superstar PSY made an appearance at the Dodgers' 12-2 win over the Rockies on Tuesday, much to the delight of both the team and those in attendance. During the fourth inning, he even gave everyone at Chavez Ravine a bit of a treat.
At the end of the inning, PSY was escorted next to the dugout and his new song "Gentleman" belted out across Dodgers Stadium. Upon seeing him, the crowd immediately started to cheer.
From there PSY briefly busted out a couple of dance moves, including the "horse dance" that he made popular with his smash hit song "Gangnam Style." He even pulled out the "I See You" hand motion used by Dodger Hanley Ramirez, among others.
His performance did not impress everyone, however. Legendary Dodger manager Tommy Lasorda was seated next to where PSY was performing, and had an expression somewhere between confusion and disgust on his face the entire time.
For the most part though, everyone enjoyed getting a rare in-person glimpse of the superstar. Dodgers rookie pitcher Ryu Hyun-jinn especially seemed to enjoy seeing his fellow countryman perform (they're both from S. Korea), and the extra attention they both received seemed to pay off.
"It seems like he enjoys that (attention)," Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly said. "He seems to like it, which is nice really because he's just kind of jacked up."
Ryu channeled that extra energy and pitched a gem of a game for the Dodgers. Through just six innings he was able to strike out 12 while only allowing 2 runs. PSY's appearance certainly seemed to inspire the rookie.
"It was pretty neat meeting a worldwide global star," Ryu said through translator Martin Kim. "It was pretty interesting to see him and I realized today that he's still a far bigger star than I am."
