Carrie Fisher has revealed that she is currently training to reprise her role as Princess Leia in "Star Wars Episode VII."
The actress appeared at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo over the weekend. She spoke to fans and stated "I like being bought by Disney, because they never wanted to buy me before.I'm glad they are doing a new movie because they are sending a trainer to my house so I can get in really good shape. So I'm really eating a lot of sugar in advance, as you can see. By the time I really get down to it I will have eaten everything."
There is no confirmation on whether Fisher will return to the franchise but the way she has been talking about the film makes it seem as if she has already been approached. Back in March, the 56-year old actress stated that she would play Leia in the new film. She stated "She's in an intergalactic old folks' home. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle." Scared of leaking information, her representatives denied the information. However George Lucas later confirmed her participation.
Fisher's news comes a day after J.J Abrams and team vowed to keep the production as secret as possible. Producer Kathleen Kennedy said she would have to adapt if leaks and spoilers occurred. Abrams also confirmed that he would collaborate with Lucas on the new film so that he could be as faithful to the world as possible. He added that the "Star Wars" world would not resemble "Star Trek's."
"Star Wars" is currently in the pre-production phase with Michael Arndt as the writer. Casting has not started but rumor has it that Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill have also been approached to reprise their roles from the original trilogy.
Disney is set to unveil the finished product in 2015.
