Is Jose Mourinho's replacement already set up? According to UK publication The Sun, Carlo Ancelotti will take over as the Real Madrid coach once the Portuguese manager announces his departure from Madrid.
"A deal is agreed. Ancelotti is the chosen one to replace Mourinho," said the publication. The Sun asserts that Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has long targeted Ancelotti as the manager for his club. There has been no confirmation from Real Madrid on the matter.
Ancelotti has enjoyed a solid year with Paris Saint-Germain. His club currently leads the French league by six points and looks primed to win the title this season. He led PSG to the top spot in Group A in the Champions league and then helped the squad to the quarterfinals where it drew 3-3 with Barcelona through two matches; their elimination was the result of allowing more away goals.
Mourinho recently confirmed that he would likely not return to Madrid after this season. "I can confirm that, when I was asked if I would be here next season, I said, 'I don't think so.' I said that I didn't think I could be there for next year's meeting," Mourinho told reporters prior to the Champions league clash with Borussia Dortmund.
He previously expressed a desire to return to one of his former clubs. "One day naturally I have to be back ... Chelsea is in my heart as Inter (Milan) is. One day I have to be back," the Portuguese coach told Sky Sports.
Real Madrid plays Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the Champions league semifinals this Tuesday; the Spanish side trails 4-1 in the aggregate.
