On Saturday April 27th the Tribeca Film Festival celebrated its closure with the annual Family Festival.
After a slate of films geared towards older audiences the festival organized a day for children. The festivities began at 10 am where various sponsors set up their booths and where the live music began with "Rock a Baby."
Several artists performed live including the New American Youth Ballet, the LMCM Dance as well as the Lemon Manhattan Preparatory school and musicians from the New York Philharmonic.
The live entertainment also included numbers from Broadway shows Annie, Cinderella, Wicked and Rock of Ages.
Additionally the festiva presented free screenings of "Focus Forward" and "Story Corps: Stories in Animation." Early in the morning they also presented 2011's "The Smurfs" and also showed a sneak peak of the second installment. Actress Christina Ricci presented the preview.
ESPN also participated in the event promoting various New York sports teams and allowing children to try different games.
Families also had the chance to go inside a real movie trailer as well as take pictures on the red carpet. They also had the opportunity to see lighting equipment as well as write their own film. In the backlot stage area, the New York stunt team presented a fighting demo while the Mayor's office hosted a location panel and job panel.
The family festival also included a "kidz block" where children had the opportunity to build their own kites and get their faces painted. There was also a playgarden and an arts and craft booth.
Various eatery booths were set up and the festival gave out complimentary popcorn. The festivities ended at 6pm as the festival prepared for its closing night film "The King of Comedy."
The 2013 Tribeca Film Festival will present its last screenings on Sunday April 28th.
