Chevrolet announced the price for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, revealing that it's not just the horsepower increasing for the seventh-generation Vette.
The price for the coupe rendition starts at $51,995, with destination fees included, while the topless Stingray starts at $56,995---a $ 1,400 increase from its sixth-generation counterpart.
But that extra cash goes along way with all the changes made to the 2014 Stingray, including a complete redesign and a pepped up powertrain---to say the least.
And Corvette's Josh Holder, the program's engineering manager, says that the new Vette is well worth it.
"The Corvette is a great value. We think the new car delivers on that aspirational goal. When you get a chance to drive the car, you are really going to be blown away." he said in an interview with Automobile Magazine.
"The new car delivers with the new interior and comfortable new seats that make the car feel like it's wrapped around you, like it's an extension of yourself. Visually, we think we have what it takes to get those buyers interested."
The 2014 Corvette Stingray boasts a zero to 60 mph time of less than four seconds, as well as an enhanced braking system and 1 g in cornering grip when equipped with an optional Z51 Performance Package.
Chevy says that the Stingray, equipped with trappings like the one that debuted at the Detroit auto show, will cost about $73,360.
The show's model included a navigation system, color-heads up display, Napa leather seats with heat and cooling functionality and a vamped up Bose stereo system.
Expect the 2014 Corvette Stingray to hit dealership showrooms in September, with the convertible rendition coming in the fourth quarter of this year.
