Warner Bros. has released a new viral poster for its blockbuster film "Pacific Rim."
The company released a poster that states "Enlist in PPDC." The poster was part of the facebook page that was launched for the film entitled Pan Pacific Dense Corp.
"Pacific Rim" revolves around an alien attack that threatens the Earth's existence. When threatened, an army of giant robots piloted by humans are deployed to fight off the menace. The film stars Ron Perlman, Idris Elba, Charlie Day and Academy Award nominee Rinko Kikuchi.
Recently director Guillermo Del Toro reported that the movie cost $200 million and that it would not be the new "Transformers." He stated "What is interesting to me is to show a completely different approach to this size of movie by not trying to show a recruitment-to-the-army approach, but to take an almost romantic, operatic approach to the adventure." He added, "We have people from every walk of life and every country coming together and not conquering with superior firepower or macho dynamics but through ingenuity and sacrifice."
The director also stated that it will be darker than most blockbusters and will have a "very romantic" and "Crazy Atmosphere."
The film is reported to feature more than 1,000 special effects shots. It was also made with giant-sized sets, such as four blocks of Hong Kong that were built and destroyed and a Tokyo city block rigged to shake with the thundering approach of a "kaiju" monster.
Del Toro returns to the director's seat after having left "The Hobbit" and killing a horror project called "At the Mountains of Madness." His last film "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" was released in 2008. He also directed "Pan's Labyrinth" which went on to win three Academy Awards in 2006.
Warner Bros will unveil "Pacific Rim" on July 12th.
