Former Spice Girls member Melanie Brown was banned from "Australia's Got Talent."
Brown was scheduled to judge the talent show but was banned after the Supreme Court judge stated that she could not switch television networks."Scary Spice," as Brown was known during her time as a Spice Girl, was taken to court by Seven network in an attempt to stop the singer from leaving the "X factor" to go to "Australia's Got Talent." The judge ordered an injunction which would prevent her from working on Channel Nine. Justice David Hammerschlag stated that Brown would be permanently blocked from appearing on any other network this year.
According to mail online, the court was told that Brown had agreed that she would only appear on Seven until next year. However, weeks after her talks with Seven, it was revealed that Brown had been in secret negotiations with the network's arch-rival Channel Nine. Brown later shocked audiences when she announced her plans to judge "Australia's Got Talent."
During litigations, Brown's husband, Stephen Belafonte told the judge he had a conversation with Seven production director Brad Lyons in December and told him about her children's visa issue. Belafonte stated that her children were unable to travel to Australia and would prevent Brown from residing in Australia for the show. However, Belafonte was evasive and unclear and gave inconsistent evidence.
Brown defended her case stating her agreement with Seven had expired, and she had never accepted any deal to extend it after that.
Brown recently reunited with the Spice Girls for the closing ceremony of the London Summer Olympics. She recently appeared as co-presenter on "Dancing with the Stars" and on "Get Fit with Mel B." She also replaced Marissa Jaret Winokur as the host of Oxygen's weight loss show "Dance Your [Explective] off." Brown was also seen in the 2012 documentary "The Spice Girls Story: Viva Forever!"
