Prom night in Mystic Falls was everything we had hoped for: a complete disaster. Upon its return, "The Vampire Diaries" has reminded fans of the imminent peril that makes Mystic Falls such a pleasant little town. With the return of Elena (Nina Dobrev) and tensions over the cure heating up, "Pictures Of You" has set the foundation for what promises to be a thrilling end to season four.
Elena has returned to Mystic Falls with the brothers and still refuses to take the cure, which is causing problems for everyone. Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) are fighting over the cure with Elijah (Daniel Gillies). Klaus wants to give it to Silas to prevent his eternal suffering and Rebekah wants it just to be normal. Elijah then tells Rebekah that she needs to live a day as a human before he'll give it to her. So what does she do? She decides to go shopping with Elena.
As Elena prepares for prom, she does what she does best and upsets Caroline (Candice Accola). Elena, who's completely lost her humanity, wears a dress that had been saved for Caroline. What an inhumane thing to do. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) tag along to prevent Elena from continuing her killing spree. They hope that by expressing their affection toward her, she'll become human once again.
As the episode title suggests, their prom festivities feature plenty of pictures that document the past four years, bringing up some old memories for Damon. He asks Elena why she ever said she loved him, to which see replies it was just because she was sired. Stefan is also trying to conjure Elena's emotions with a more flirtatious, but she continues to shrug him off.
Meanwhile, a recently returned Bonnie (Katerina Graham) is heartbroken over the death of Jeremy, but then he magically shows up during prom, unfortunately in the form of Silas. He says he needs to speak with Bonnie before she hurts herself, but she's afraid that Silas just wants to bring down the wall between the living and the dead. Bonnie runs to Stefan and Damon to warn them, but they're both a bit distracted with their own issues.
Damon claims that Stefan isn't over Elena, who defends himself by saying that they have a long history, but in a completely unexpected twist, it turns out to be Silas as Stefan and he stabs Damon. More violence ensues as Elena goes off to kill Bonnie and bites April on the way. April is left bleeding out, and although Matt begs Rebekah to save her, she can't because she promised not to use her vampire powers, however she eventually gives in. Thank God. Elena then goes in for the kill on Bonnie but Stefan and Damon stop her in her tracks and shoot her up with vervain.
Elijah decides to give Rebekah the cure after all, but little does he know that it's Silas in Rebekah's body. Uh oh. Mystic Falls just got rocked.
