As diehards are well aware by now, season four of "Arrested Development" is upon us. The coveted release is set for May 26 on Netflix. What they may or may not know is that it wasn't easy to roundup the entire cast for the long awaited return. Following the initial three seasons, many of the show's actors, including Jason Bateman, Michael Cera and Will Arnett just to name a few, quickly climbed their way to Hollywood royalty, thus making it difficult for the "Arrested Development" creators to schedule them for season four production. Some of them even "hesitated" before making his return to the set.
"If there was a hesitation, not having done the character in seven years, there was a concern of whether I could match expectations," Tony Hale, who plays Buster, said in a recent interview. "But when I first heard Jessica Walter's voice - the character's mother - it was a click right back in."
Hale plays Buster, the younger brother of Michael (Bateman) and Gob (Arnett), who never managed to leave the nest. At 30 some years of age, he's still the helpless momma's boy he was when he was a child. In the first three seasons, Buster would find himself in odd and unforeseen situations derived from his dimwitted nature.
"I just love the element of surprise of not having any idea what's coming next," Hale said. "Look at my character. His hand was bitten off by a seal. Liza Minnelli was my girlfriend. You're just constantly surprised."
Hale and the entire cast will mark their return on May 26 with 15 brand new episodes for your viewing pleasure, and there's more where that came from. Although nothing has been confirmed, Bateman informed fans that season four is not the end of the Bluths. Whether there will be a season five or a subsequent feature film, we can't be sure, but there's more on the way. As always, the Bluths won't go out without a fight.
