Finally, "How I Met Your Mother" is back. After a brief hiatus, the hit CBS series has returned and has given fans something to rave about. The show's established relationships have taken some serious turns that left fans on the edges of their seats. The season finale is only weeks away. There's not much time left to make things right, but how could it not? At least that's what we hope as the turmoil from last night's episode, "Romeward Bound," settles in.
The episode begins with Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Ted (Josh Radnor) back in similar fashion. They coax a girl from yoga class to take off her puffy jacket and flaunt her amazing body, but upon their success, Ted tells Barney that he isn't acting like a man who's about to get married. After Ted expresses his concerns, Barney snaps and makes it clear that Robin (Cobie Smulders) is marrying him, and not Ted. Things quickly smooth over, however the damage is done. We'll see how this unfolds in the following episodes.
Meanwhile, Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily's (Alyson Hannigan) relationship hits a serious snag. When The Captain asks Lily to move to Rome with him in, she can't bring herself to confront Marshall with the news. She doesn't want to ask him to leave New York in the midst of pursuing his dream job. However, upon turning the offer down, she goes to surprise Marshall only to find that his company has been downsized and he hasn't made any progress in finding a new dream.
Marshall went to convince The Captain to give Lily a second chance, but that's when we learn that Lily has had reservations all along. She's afraid of the pressure of taking on such an important role and leaving her comfort zone to go live across seas. So what does Marshall do? He tells Lily to go and convinces her that she can't pass up such an amazing opportunity!
Hold the phone. So Lily's going to move to Italy with The Captain? Will Marshall join them? Will Lily officially accept the offer? What does this mean for their relationship? These are all questions that the final episodes of the season will have to answer, and they better answer them quickly. I don't know how much more suspense we can take.
"How I Met Your Mother" airs on Monday nights at 8:00 p.m. EST on CBS.
