In a recent interview TV host Kelly Ripa admitted she does not speak with her former co-anchor Regis Philbin.
She told Hollywood Reporter during an after party, "I haven't seen him." When asked to compare her current co-anchor Michael Strahan and Philbin she stated, "Well they're both incredible storyteller. They are both fiercely competitive, and they're both incredible football players."
The Hollywood Reporter also asked her why she chose Strahan and she admitted, "It's so nice to have a co-host literally sweep you off your feet. I know that he can bench press me if he wanted to."
She also had the opportunity of sharing her thoughts on politician Anthony Weiner possibly entering the New York City mayoral race. She joked, "I say why not? I love a political Cinderella story."
In a recent interview, Philbin gave high marks to Strahan and said, "He's got a good sense of humor. He's a good guy. I think they're doing great."
In 2001, Ripa replaced Kathy Lee Gifford on the "Live with Regis" show. Ripa and Philbin hosted together until Philbin left the show in 2011.The show was then renamed "Live with Kelly" and Ripa tried out 59 potential replacements on the air, before deciding on Strahan back in December. The star-studded list included Neil Patrick Harris, Alec Baldwin, Kim Kardashian and Jerry Seinfeld, before she decided on Strahan, a former New York Giants player.
Ripa recently made the 35 Most Powerful People in the Media list by Hollywood Reporter.
