Fans are now accustomed to the continuous thread of "50 Shades of Grey" casting rumors that tend to run in circles. From Ian Somerhalder, Alexis Bledel, Matt Bomer, to Nina Dobrev, the same names come in and out of the arena as fans speculate, make home-made trailers and raid the twittersphere with their favorite contenders. This time around, however, there's a new name making a splash on the "50 Shades" radar, and it make come as a major surprise. So here it is, the next top "50 Shades" candidate, Harry Styles.
Well, maybe he's not a contender for the role of Christian Grey, but he's still grabbing "50 Shades" fans' attention. The One Direction star has read "50 Shades of Grey" and called it "an educational and interesting read." FansShare announced recently announced that Styles and the rest of the band have been working on music for the "50 Shades" soundtrack.
One Direction's bubblegum pop music and the erotic 'mommy porn' novel don't necessarily go together like peanut butter and jelly, so it's unclear as to how this relationship is going to evolve, but as of now, neither author E. L. James nor the band has denied the rumors. There are plenty of explanations, but all are based on pure speculation. The soundtrack could cater to the film's target audience, maybe it could shadow Anastasia's innocence during the early scenes of the film, or perhaps One Direction could be shifting into a more mature genre, cutting ties with their kiddie pop personas. Who knows? The film won't be released until summer 2014, so there's still plenty of time to work out the details.
In the meantime, just for good measure, Stephen Amell and Felicity Jones are the newest pair of "50 Shades" candidates to grace recent fan-made trailers. The 31-year-old British actress and the stunning brunette, who said she'd be completely comfortable filming any nude scenes by the way, make a very convincing couple. The tantalizing trailer reminds fans why they're being considered as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Check out the trailer below.
