"How I Met Your Mother" may have taken a brief hiatus, much to fans chagrin, but its return is now less than a week away. The beloved comedy will be back on April 15 and will carry on straight to the May season finale. Next week's episode, "Romeward Bound," will bring the show to Italy, which is sure to provide fans with the "How I Met Your Mother" antics that they've been craving over the past several weeks.
The episode begins with Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan) dealing with some major decisions on their plate. The most recent sneak peek photos show Marshall gallivanting around Italy, spoofing on 'The Godfather,' while Lily remains distant and upset. But why?
Here's CBS' official synopsis of "Romeward Bound":
"When The Captain asks Lily to move to Rome for a year to be his art consultant, she fears that Marshall will resent her. Meanwhile, Ted (Josh Radnor) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) become obsessed with a girl who is hiding her amazing body under a puffy coat."
Could Marshall be holding Lily back from living her dream in Rome? It's unclear whether Lily will make the move alone, with Marshall, or not at all. Fans would be devastated if the two had to split. There's not much time remaining in season eight. Something's got to give soon.
The season eight finale and the preceding episodes are based around a very important wedding. As the show moves to Rome for next week's episode, fans can tell that love is in the air and the characters will be forced to make the difficult decisions that lovers have to make.
While "Romeward Bound" will focus on Marshall and Lily, the remaining three season eight episodes will be centered on Barney and Robin (Cobie Smulders). The first, "The Bro Mitzvah" could pertain to Barney's stag party, while the other two, "Something Old" and "Something New" will act as precursors to the next and final season of "How I Met Your Mother."
The end is near. The epic "How I Met Your Mother" is approaching its final chapter, so let's sit and enjoy while we can. The final season eight episodes should bring tears and laughter as big wheels are in motion.
"How I Met Your Mother" airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
