The trailer to Steven Soderbergh's final film "Behind the Candelabra" has premiered.
The film, starring Matt Damon and Michael Douglas, is based on an autobiographical novel "Behind the Candelabra: My Life with Liberace," which recounts the tempestuous 6-year relationship between Liberace and his lover, Scott Thorson.
The movie was produced by HBO Films and reunites Soderbergh with both actors. Damon worked with Soderbergh on his Ocean's Eleven trilogy as well as the Golden Globe nominated film "The Informant."
Douglas recently reunited with the director this past year for the film "Haywire" which he starred alongside Ewan McGregor and Michael Fassbender. He previously worked with Soderbergh on the Oscar winning film "Traffic."
"Candelabra" had a hard time getting funding because of it subject matter and most Hollywood studios rejected it because they believed it was too gay and would not sell.
Soderbergh recently admitted that he was quitting filmmaking after this year. He last directed the critically acclaimed "Side Effects" and "Magic Mike." He also directed "Haywire" and "Contagion."
Damon was last seen in Gus Van Sant's "Proimised Land" and "We Bought a Zoo." His next projects include "Elysium" and "The Zero Theorem." He will also reunite with George Clooney for "The Monuments Men."
Douglas last reprised his Oscar winning role of Gordon Getko in "Wall Street Money Never Dies." He was also seen in "Solitary Man" and "Beyond Reasonable Doubt." He will next appear in "Last Vegas" and "Reykjavik" as Ronald Reagan.
"Behind the Candelbra" will air on HBO on May 26 and is expected to make its World Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
