Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi both played for their respective clubs in the Champions League and contributed to their results. However, one of them was injured in the process and missed his team's second match over the weekend.
Messi: La Pulga continued his tremendous play when he scored the opening goal for Barcelona against Paris Saint-Germain. However, he was subsequently injured and missed the remainder of the match. There is no timetable on Messi's return but the striker asserted that "I am working hard on getting fit. I'm fine."
Ronaldo: The Portuguese superstar had a stellar week as he led Madrid to a 3-0 win over Galatasaray in the Champions league with a strong goal. Over the weekend he came off the bench to provide Madrid with a goal and assist as his club romped 5-0. While Ronaldo is unlikely to match his 45 goals from last season, he is well on his way to a tremendous 2013 with 23 goals on the year.

Edge: It might seem unfair to pick Ronaldo because of Messi's injury but both players performed well in their team's Champions league battles. Ronaldo's team won their match and he supplemented another goal this week so Ronaldo gets the edge.
Messi Leads 16-14 for the 2012-13 season.
Ronaldo has a 7-5 edge in 2013.
During week 5, both players earned a point for equally strong weeks. During week 10, neither earned a point for forgettable weeks.
