Even though Sony and MGM recently announced that the next James Bond movie would be seen in the next three years, speculations regarding the next director for the film have already emerged.

After Sam Mendes' left the new film, Guy Ricthie emerged as the favorite to direct the film with Kathryn Bigelow, and Martin Campbell in the mix. However, five new directors are now positioned as favorites to helm the 24th film in the series.

The first in the pack is Joe Wright who is best known for his work on period films "Pride and Prejudice," "Atonement," and "Anna Karenina." However many remember "Hanna" an impressive action thriller about a trained teenage girl on the run. The director's stylish and visual approach wowed critics and audiences and with his cinematographer Seamus McGarvey, pundits pin him as a very interesting choice to direct. However after announcing his latest project "The Ocean at the End of the Lane," it seems Wright may be a bit busy for Bond.

Alfonso Cuaron has also been pinned as a potential to direct the film. By the time producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are ready to get James Bond 24 off the ground, Cuarón will be finished with his latest film "Gravity." The Mexican filmmaker has not announced any new project and therefore is most likely. Additionally, he has already shown he can direct franchise films and be respectful to the series while still adding his own style with "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes'" director Ryan Wyatt could potentially be chosen after bringing a refreshing treatment to the "Planet of the Apes" series. The director Wyatt proved he could pay tribute to an old franchise with his own style, heart and some great blockbuster action. However after announcing his new project Birdsong, scheduling conflicts could occur.

David Yates is another rumored director. Yates helmed four "Harry Potter" films which were all well received with great reviews. Therefore the director has franchise experience and if he is chosen he could potentially remain for more than one film. The only issue is he is currently attached to direct "Tarzan" with Jessica Chastain and is working on "St. Nazaire."

The last director on the list is Christopher Nolan, the director of "The Dark Knight saga" and "Inception."  Previously Nolan expressed interest in directing a James Bond film. However, Nolan is now slated to direct "Interstellar," the sci-fi script from his brother Jonathan Nolan which has both Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. behind it. The film is slated to be released in 2014 and therefore could open Nolan's schedule.

The last James Bond movie "Skyfall" became the most successful Bond movie ever made and received 5 Academy Award nominations and won 2 including Adele Adkin's Song "Skyfall." The film was also the recipient of 2 BAFTA awards including Best British Film.

Daniel Craig is slated to star in the next two Bond movies with Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw rumored to return to the series. John Logan is currently writing the new script.
