With a new studio album coming out and a new single to promote, controversial RnB singer Chris Brown has been making rounds throughout mainstream media to reveal a new and honest side that's not afraid to address his notorious past.
In an interview with Matt Lauer on the "Today" show this morning, the 23-year-old pop singer spoke about his latest new album titled "X," his relationship with pop icon Rihanna and how he feels about the domestic dispute that left Rihanna in the hospital and unmasked him as violent degenerate in 2009. According to Brown, he's learned and matured as a young man from the incident which resulted in him "losing everything."
"I've been humbled by the whole experience," Brown told Lauer Monday morning. "From me losing everything, you know, to me having to regain public opinion or whatever it is -- but most importantly, you know, knowing that what I did was totally wrong and having to kind of deal with myself and kind of forgive myself in the same breath and being able to apologize to, you know, Rihanna and be that man that can be who is a man."
The "Fine China" crooner also cleared up rumors that he and Rih Rih were broken up which he claims was wrongly reported by radio station Power 106. "We're fine," he confessed, adding that the station's host "got it wrong."
Brown also told the NBC host that he's understands that not everyone will like or forgive him and he can't please everybody.
"I think everybody is entitled to their opinion. For me, it's just a learning process. You know, I have to just take it one day at a time. I can't make everybody like me ... it's about me being positive," he told Lauer, explaining that he knows what he did was wrong and that he went through a 52-week domestic violence counseling program to help him realize it. Brown also said that it would "absolutely" never happen again.
"I think it's just me proving myself once again," he said. "Knowing that what I did was wrong, and never doing it again. So as far as me and [Rihanna] are concerned, she knows my heart, and I know her heart. So I'm not really focused on the negative."
"For me, it's about proving myself to my fans," Brown added. "The only thing I can do is please my family, myself, and please her, you know, and my fans."
