Even though the attention of the soccer world turned to the World Cup qualifiers, one man continued to garner a great deal of notice: Jose Mourinho.
A number of reports indicate that Mourinho is eyeing his exit from his current club Real Madrid despite being under contract under 2016. Where does the manager plan on heading?
On Monday, British outlet The Mirror reported that "Mourinho and Abramovich HAVE reached a provisional agreement for the Portuguese to take over from interim Rafa Benitez this summer on a three-year contract."
Mourinho apparently also had lunch with Massimo Moratti, the President of Mourinho's former club Inter Milan.
"One day naturally I have to be back ... Chelsea is in my heart as Inter (Milan) is. One day I have to be back," the Portuguese coach stated during an interview with Sky Sports.
Despite generating more buzz about his exit, Mourinho did note that he was committed to winning this third Champions League tournament this season.
"I am very, very committed to the ambitions of the club until the end of the season," Mourinho said. "I keep out of the comments and speculations. People that know me know that I am a professional and at the moment I am only thinking about Madrid. We are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and have a final against Atletico. Whenever I go to London people start to make connections about me coming back. I have always said I loved the city, despite the weather. To be fair, I contribute to those speculations."
