Eager "How I Met Your Mother" fans may be discouraged that the season eight return is still a few weeks away, but in the meantime, there's plenty of juicy meat to chew on. Fans are still obsessing over one particular episode titled "Romeward Bound," speculating that the title alludes to a Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) honeymoon or an abroad trip for Lily (Alison Hannigan).
Fans questions were answered when CBS released a synopsis pertaining to the curiously titled episode, and it looks like Lily will be will be saying goodbye, for now.
"When the Captain asks Lily to move to Rome for a year to be his art consultant, she fears that Marshall will resent her. Meanwhile, Ted and Barney become obsessed with girl who is hiding her amazing body under a puffy coat." Standard "How I Met Your Mother" shenanigans.
In other spoiler news, a couple very special guest stars have been cast for the May 13 season finale. "Happy Endings'" Casey Wilson and "Key and Peeles'" Keegan-Michael will play a couple having dinner at the same restaurant as Robin and Barney. That's all we know for now, but could this possibly mean that Wilson is the mother?
A star role in "How I Met Your Mother" could also be logical for Wilson's career. "Happy Endings" is currently in its third season and isn't nearly as popular as "How I Met Your Mother," which has signed on for a ninth season. There are a million reasons why Wilson would be a fitting mother, but unfortunately, there are just as many that make her unfitting. We'll just have to wait and see.
There's still much left to ponder as the season eight finale approaches. Many questions will have to be answered upon the show's return on April 15 after its brief hiatus.
