After 15 years, the daytime court-show "Judge Joe Brown" will come to an end.
The syndicated show will end this September after its current season.
On Wednesday the CBS Television Distribution announced that "Judge Joe Brown" will not be returning for another season. "We would like to thank Joe for 15 great years, as well as executive producer John Terenzio and the entire staff for all their hard work and dedication to the show," spokesperson told TheWrap in a statement.
According to Broadcasting & Cable, Brown and CBS Television Distribution have recently been in contract negotiations; however, CBS was offering him a sharp decrease in his $20 million a year salary. Reportedly, CBS Television Distribution was looking to trim his salary since ratings have dipped.
In an interview with Broadcasting and Cable, Brown said CBS Television Distribution was difficult to deal with and wasn't backing the show with promotion. "It was time to move out on my own since I had some ideas that I had been having to pull teeth with no novocaine to get adopted," Brown said.
Reports say that Brown had approached other distributors, including Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios, to keep the TV series going.
TV court fans should not fret too much as there is still many other shows to choose from including "Judge Judy," "Judge Alex," "People's Court," "Judge Mathis" and "Divorce Court."
Judge Joe Brown premiered in September 1998 and maintained its status as the second-highest rated court show behind "Judge Judy."
