Few details regarding the return of the fifth season of "Breaking Bad" have been unveiled. AMC is known for its secrecy surrounding their original series, much to fans' dismay. However, the flow of information may now be out of the network officials' hands. In a rare unfortunate occurrence, a New Mexico man allegedly broke into Bryon Cranston's car late last year and stole a copy of the "Breaking Bad" script. Doomsday for AMC.
Not all is lost however. Bernalillo Authorities have arrested 29-year-old Xavier Macafee and are holding him for the alleged burglary. As of now, none of the stolen items have been recovered, but detectives are still on the prowl. Cranston's car was broken into Dec. 20 while parked at Sandia Peak in New Mexico.
If detectives can't find the missing script, there's no telling whose hands it could end up in. As of now, no information regarding the series finale has been leaked, but the second half of the fifth and final season has yet to premiere. The perpetrator still has plenty of time to spoil AMC's element of surprise. The network has yet to comment on the stolen script.
Although the script was stolen, the thief's intentions are questionable. Along with the script, Macafee took an iPad, a shoulder bag and miscellaneous personal items. The thief could have been looking for money to pay for his dinner. The iPad as the most valuable of the stolen items, Macafee may have seen the script and tossed it in the garbage, not realizing its true value. It's possible that he didn't even know he was breaking into a TV star's car. Unfortunately for him, he chose the wrong vehicle to scour for treasures.
Hopefully they can determine the script secured before this summer's premiere, or Walt's plans could be spoiled.
