John Mayer will kick off his first major concert tour in three years this summer.
The pop singer, who was forced to take an extended vocal hiatus due to throat issues, will launch his tour on July 6 at Milwaukee's SummerFest, in support of his 2012 album "Born and Raised."
The "Say" crooner will make stops in over 40 cities in four countries, including Colorado's Red Rocks on July 16, Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina on September 17, and Rock in Rio in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil September 21. He will end the tour with a show at the Hollywood Bowl on October 5. A throat granuloma forced him to cancel initial tour plans around "Born and Raised."
In an interview with Billboard, Mayer opened up about repairing vocal cords after unsuccessful surgery over the past year calling his recovery a dream come true.
"The greatest gift I have in my life is the opportunity to play again, which is also the opportunity to dream again," he says. "My dreams were in escrow, but when I found out this thing in my throat had receded, the most exciting thing for me was having a second chance at a new life. My dreams have come true twice. That's really cool."
Mayer also recently told Rolling Stone that, "For me to get back onstage and play again, it's just like, 'Oh right, this is what I'm able to do. This is what I've been able to do while I was watching a whole bunch of Westerns every night and making rice bowls with chicken. It's been very fun to uncover it and rediscover it again."
Tickets will be available via Mayer's website.
