'Admission' Review Roundup: Tina Fey and Paul Rudd's Film Scores Mixed Reviews

This weekend Focus Features will release "Admission" starring Paul Rudd and Tina Fey.

The film tells the story of a Princeton admissions officer who is up for a major promotion and takes a professional risk after she meets a college-bound alternative school kid who just might be the son she gave up years ago in a secret adoption.

The film received mixed reviews garnering a 39 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Wall Street Journal stated "Only Mr. Rudd emerges unscathed. He protects himself by being consistently affable in the face of heavy odds."

The San Francisco Chronicle also disliked the film and stated "Everybody in "Admission" is funny - Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Lily Tomlin, Wallace Shawn - but they're not funny in Admission." 

Rolling Stone gave it a 2 out 4 stars and stated "I'd see Tina Fey and Paul Rudd in anything, but this is pushing it. Admission is so slight that a breeze could flatten it."

Hollywood Reporter added "I'd see Tina Fey and Paul Rudd in anything, but this is pushing it. Admission is so slight that a breeze could flatten it."

However there were some critics who enjoyed the film such as the New York Times who gave it a 3 out of 5 stars and stated "[Fey and Rudd] are fun to watch, though not as much fun as they might have been in a riskier, crazier movie."

Paul Weitz directed the film from a script by Karen Croner.

Fey last won a Golden Globe for her role in "30 Rock." She is currently working on an adaptation of "Mean Girls" for Broadway. Rudd last starred in "This is 40" with Leslie Mann. He will next be seen in the award winning film "Prince Avalanche," as well as "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" and "Almost Christmas."

"Admission" will open in 2,160 theaters and is rated PG-13 for language and some sexual material.
