Jude Law has exited "Jane Got a Gun," the day production hired Gavin O'Connor to.
Deadline reported that Law quit because he signed on to work with Lynne Ramsey not O'Connor. The news comes after O'Connor was hired to direct the film. The director is in final stages of negotiation to take over directing duty.
On Tuesday it was reported that Ramsey did not show up to the first day of production. According to Deadline there was some sort of negotiations breakdown with Ramsay, which led to her departure after nine months of development on the film.
Producers Scot Steindorff told deadline "I have millions of dollars invested, we're ready to shoot, we have a great script, crew and cast. I'm shocked and so disappointed someone would do this to 150 crew members who devoted so much time, energy, commitment and loyalty to a project, and then have the director not show up. It is insane somebody would do this to other people."
Ramsey and Law are not the first to exit the production. Earlier this month Michael Fassbender exited stating that the film would interfere with his upcoming X Men sequel. Joel Edgerton then replaced him and Law signed on to replace Edgerton.
The film tells the story of a woman whose outlaw husband returns home riddled with bullet wounds and barely alive. When her husband's gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job, she is forced to reach out to an ex-lover and ask if he will help defend her farm.
Law last starred in "Anna Karenina" with Keira Knightley and "Side Effects" with Rooney Mara and Channing Tatum. O'Connor last directed "Warrior" with Edgerton and Tom Hardy and "Pride and Glory" with Edward Norton and Colin Farrell.
"Jane Got a Gun" also stars Natalie Portman who is also producing and Edgerton and is also produced by Aleen Keshishian, and Terry Dougas.
