Right now, Lakers fans have their minds on the MVA...Most Valuable Ankle.
With just a few hours to go, all eyes will be on one of the most intriguing match-ups in the NBA. Sorry, Miami, we'll be sure to catch your Milwaukee win highlights later.
The Los Angeles Lakers will take on the Indiana Pacers tonight at Bakers Life Fieldhouse. The question leading up to tip-off will be the health status of Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and whether he'll be healthy enough to take the court. Bryant suffered a severe ankle sprain earlier in the week and it remains to be seen if he's in game shape.
According to ESPN, he's getting treatment on the ankle and is listed as a game-time decision. Kobe did take the court earlier today, but according to Pacers.com, the Lakers star looked "tender" while taking shots. Lakers' beat writer Kevin Ding claims the ankle treatment is "an indication that he might play tonight." The key word is "might", especially when you take a look at Bryant's ankle as he recently tweeted.
If Kobe can't play tonight, Jodie Meeks would start in his place. There can't be anything "meek" about the Lakers performance tonight, however. They face one of the few teams given the chance to beat the Miami Heat in the playoffs. The Indiana Pacers are 7-3 in their last 10 games and currently lead the NBA Central division by 5. If the playoffs started today, the Pacers would be the second seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Lakers hold a scant half-game lead over the Utah Jazz for the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference playoff picture.
