This weekend Kate Del Castillo's new film "K-11" will be released in art house cinemas.

The film tells the story of a record producer who comes around after binging on drink and drugs and finds himself in a section of the Los Angeles County Jail reserved for homosexuals, which is ruled by a transsexual named Mousey.

The film has received negative reviews with a 0 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The New York Times called the film "A sordid prison drama that struts an unsteady line between full-on camp and "Oz"-style Darwinism."

The Los Angeles Times stated ""K-11" has the makings of a cult movie campfest but little of the authentic wit, edge or outré vision it would take to get there."

The New York Daily News gave the film one star out of five and said "Points for niche audaciousness, but that's all."

Village Voice was also negative stating "Like an on-the-nose parody of Lee Daniels directing an episode of Oz, K-11 is a pulpy, tone-deaf mess of confused directorial intent."

Jules Stewart, Kristen Stewart's mom directed the film and It marks her directional debut. Stewart stated in an interview that she compares the film to a modern day Alice in Wonderland.

Del Castillo last starred in the telenovela "La Reina del Sur" for Telemundo. The actress also starred in "Under the Same Moon" in 2007, "Julia" with Tilda Swinton and "Trade" with Kevin Kline. She will next be seen in "The Miracle of Spanish Harlem."

The film also stars Goran Visnjic (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Counselor), D.B Sweeney (Taken 2), and Portia DoubleDay (Youth in Revolt).

Breaking Glass will distribute the film in 7 theaters.
