On Wednesday March 13th, the trailer to "Kick-Ass 2" was released by Lionsgate.
The film starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Jim Carrey tells the story of the costumed high-school hero Kick-Ass who joins with a group of normal citizens who have been inspired to fight crime in costume. Meanwhile, the Red Mist plots an act of revenge that will affect everyone Kick-Ass knows.
The original installment released in 2010 was one of the most controversial films of the year for its gratuitous violence and for the profanities uttered by Grace Moretz, who played the 12-year-old murderous vigilante Hit-Girl.
Taylor Johnson recently starred in "Savages" alongside Salma Hayek, Demian Bichir, John Travolta and Benicio del Toro. He also starred in Joe Wright's "Anna Karenina" with Keira Knightley and Jud Law. Grace Moretz was recently seen in Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows" with Johnny Depp and in Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" with Ben Kingsley and Asa Butterfield.
Mintz-Plasse best known for his work in "Superbad" last starred in "Pitch Perfect" and "ParaNorman." Carrey last starred in "Mr. Popper's Penguins" and "I Love Phillip Morris." He will next be seen in this weekend's "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" with Steve Carrell, Steve Buscemi and Olivia Wilde.
The first installment was directed by Matthew Vaughn but due to scheduling issues was forced to leave the sequel.
"Kick-Ass 2" is based on the Mark Millar comic and was written and directed by Jeff Wadlow. The film will be released in August nationwide.
