As "50 Shades of Grey" fans sit and pray for their favorites to be casted for the Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey roles, one name in particular keeps popping up. Ian Somerhalder continues to top fan-based polls to play the role of Christian. He may just be the perfect fit, but there's one little problem.
Somerhalder's co-star and girlfriend, Nina Dobrev, is also being considered for the role of Anastasia Steele. If the two were to star in "50 Shades" together, their low-key relationship would be under intense scrutiny. All eyes would be on the Hollywood couple. Even if Dobrev weren't cast as Anastasia, there would be ample media coverage on Somerhalder's steamy "50 Shades" sex scenes and how they would affect their relationship. Either way you look at it, their low-key relationship would hit the mainstream.
But it may be worth it. The role would catapult the "Vampire Diaries" star into Hollywood superstardom. His seductive look, enchanting eyes and engaging charm make him perfect for the role, and fans agree. A fan-made teaser trailer featuring the Hollywood stud caused fans to drool over the idea of Somerhalder as Christian. Hopefully Dobrev won't stand in the way of Somerhalder's prospects. The two may belong together, but according to fans, he belongs in the "50 Shades of Grey" film.
The icing on the cake is E.L. James' and Universal's approval, although neither has released any statement regarding the cast or even the director for the "50 Shades."
In other "50 Shades" news, Universal Studios settled their lawsuit against Smash Pictures and shot down their attempt to produce their own parody porn called "50 Shades of Grey: A XXX Adaptation." Universal felt the adult film company was infringing upon it rights.
Now with the lawsuit out of the way, perhaps Universal can make a decision regarding the "50 Shades" cast. Fans are dying. Not literally, but they may if they're kept waiting too long.
