Guy Ritchie has become the favorite to direct the next James Bond film according to British Bookmakers William Hill. Hill placed the odds at 4-1 in favor of the "Sherlock Holmes" director, who beat out Martin Scorsese (9-1), Steven Spielberg (10-1), and Quentin Tarantino (33-1).

Rupert Adams, Hill's spokesman, cited that the "Sherlock Holmes" films were "an enormous success" for Ritchie, adding that the firm believed "Guy Ritchie is the man to be entrusted with the Bond franchise, although Bond by Quentin Tarantino would make interesting viewing."

Ritchie last directed "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" and is currently developing "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."

Sam Mendes recently exited the James Bond franchise after directing "Skyfall." He stated that "directing 'Skyfall' was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of 'Charlie And The Chocolate Factory' and 'King Lear,' that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond."

Rumored director Danny Boyle also made headlines when he stated that he is not interested in directing a James Bond film because it is too big and does not suit his character or the type of film he likes to make.

The last James Bond film "Skyfall" received 5 Academy Award nominations and won 2 for Adele Adkin's Song "Skyfall"  as well as Sound Editing. "Skyfall" was also the recipient of 2 BAFTA awards including Best British Film. It also became the most successful financially making over $1 billion and scored incredible reviews with a 92 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Daniel Craig is slated to reprise the role of Bond with Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw in the 24th film. John Logan will write the script and the movie is set to launch in 2014.
