The rumors of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Manchester United have reached fever pitch over the last few weeks. There is no secret that the team and player both would like a reunion and it seems that a number of players are in favor of the move.

"There is no secret to the fact that he misses the security, the stability and the friendships that he had in Manchester and the reception he got the other night was special for him," former Manchester United captain Gary Neville told talkSPORT.  "Forget Manchester United, I think, from a British football point of view, having Ronaldo back in the Premier League would be a great result for everybody because to watch him week in, week out, would be a pleasure."

Current Manchester defender Nemanja Vidic recently stated his desire to see Ronaldo back on his team,  "It would be a big ask for many reasons. I would love to see Cristiano here. I could see it," said Vidic. "He is a United supporter. Even though he left he still follows United and still misses the club and the environment here."

"The way he plays, he can play in England, he can shoot with his left, his right, he can jump and head the ball. He can dribble, he can do everything," added Vidic.

News on Manchester's interest has been contradictory. Recent rumors indicated that United sponsor Nike had met with team officials to set up an offer for Real Madrid to retain Ronaldo. However, Manchester manager Sir Alex Ferguson recently expressed doubts about Ronaldo's return to the Old Trafford.

"There hasn't been anything to encourage me to think Cristiano would come back here," Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told the media. "As far as I am aware, there is nothing in it at all."

"Ronaldo has got two years left on his contract and it seems to me it is all part of the negotiations that are going on about a new deal," Ferguson noted. "Maybe his agent is playing the game. I think it is false hope."
