The first place Montreal Canadiens look to bounce back after a tough loss when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Canadiens were victims to an offensive onslaught from the New York Islanders on Tuesday evening. The Canadiens led 1-0 after one period, but gave up three straight goals to New York. Even though the team managed to overcome the two goal deficit and tie the game at three early in the third, the Islanders still managed to find a way to win.
"This wasn't our night," Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said. "The Islanders have good young players. They played a strong game."
He did, however, blame the referees for an inconsistent performance. "You really expect me to blame my guys for playing hard? I can't call out my players when the refs made up a few calls here and there," said Therrien during the post game press conference. "We worked hard to get back in the game and we probably deserved better than that."
"This was a tough one for us," Captain Brian Gionta added. "They are a dangerous offensive team and they have the power when they play their game. We simply didn't play the way we wanted to play."
The Hurricanes are coming off their third win against the Buffalo Sabres in the 2013 season. Carolina got goals from Jiri Tlusty, Joe Corvo, Jussi Jokinen, and Alexander Semin. Goalie Justin Peters made 37 saves in the victory.
