The Washington Capitals look to build off their best win of the season when they take on the Florida Panthers.
The Capitals were down 3-0 after just 20 minutes against the mighty Boston Bruins, but the team managed to make a rousing comeback that ended in an overtime victory for Washington.
"I think it says a lot about our character," Forward Eric Fehr said. "This team believes in ourselves ... we're a pretty confident bunch right now and we believe in the system. ... We're playing together as a team, and that's why we were able to win today."
"We've talked about how when we've been down in the past how we've deviated and gotten away from our game and got a little too individual," Capitals left wing Matt Hendricks added. "Tonight we just kept our noses down and worked hard and stuck to the system and it rewarded us."
"I think the guys felt that, 'We're still in the game.' It's Boston, nothing is going to come easy. You're going to have to get one at a time," said Coach Adam Oates. "We got one pretty quick in the second which helped us a little."
The Florida Panthers are also coming off a rousing 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets that saw goalie Jacob Markstrom make 30 saves in his first start as the team's number one goalie.
"I felt like they had a lot of energy tonight," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. "They worked from the start of the game to the finish and just the intangibles.
"That was good for [Markstrom] to get the win," Dineen said about his goaltender. "He was a difference-maker. They pushed at different times and I think he responded very well."
The Capitals won the first two meetings between these teams by a combined score of an 11-5. They won the Feb. 9 meeting 5-0 and then took the Feb. 12 tilt by the score of 6-5.
Predictions: Washington makes it three of three against Florida with a 6-2 win.
