Edward Norton has joined the cast to Mexican director's Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's next film "Birdman."
Norton will play an egotistical actor who will try to steal the spotlight from the leading man. The film, also starring Michael Keaton, Naomi Watts, Emma Stone, and Zach Galifianakis, tells the story of a has-been actor (Keaton), famous for playing a superhero who now attempts to star in a Broadway play. The movie is based on Raymond Carver's short story "The Birdman."
Norton's casting also came with the news that the director is still missing the protagonists ex-wife.
Norton recently starred in Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" along with Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray and Bruce Willis. He also appeared in "The Bourne Legacy" with Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Albert Finney and David Stratharin and in the reboot "The Incredible Hulk" with Liv Tyler, Tim Roth and William Hurt. He is currently in production for "The Grand Budapest Hotel" which reunites him with Anderson.
Inarritu last directed "Biutiful" which was nominated for the Oscar for Best foreign Film and Best Actor for Javier Bardem. The director also helmed "Babel" for which he received his first Oscar nomination and "21 Grams."
Inarritu co-wrote the script with Nicolas Giacobone,Alexander Dinelaris and Armando Bo. He is producing with Robert Graf and John Lesher. "Birdman" will be produced by Inarritu, John Lesher and Robert Graf.
The film is set to start shooting in April and will be distributed by Fox Searchlight.
