The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is scheduled to make its debut at the New York auto show at the end of the month, but until then, the automaker has released official photos of the vehicle before it hits the exhibition floor.
While there are not many official specifications that have been released by automaker, there are some things that can be projected for the new crossover that will replace the Liberty model.
Expect four-cylinder and six-cylinder engine options. And while the four-cylinder engine remains a mystery, there are some reports that it could be the 1.4-liter turbo from the Dodge Dart or Alfa's 1.8-liter turbo. The six-cylinder engine is less of a mystery and is expected to be a 3.2-liter rendition of the Chrysler corporate Pentastar engine.
Nine-speed automatic transmissions are also projected for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee as well as all-wheel drive.
And the automaker said that the return of the Cherokee means increased fuel efficiency and more driving capability than the Liberty model it will replace.
The new design of the Cherokee is similar to its predecessors, but the front of the crossover has gone through some very obvious transformations including a redesigned seven-slot grille, LED running lamps and new locations for the turning signals and headlamps.
Look for the official release of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee at the New York auto show to stay up-to-date with official specifications and pricing.
