The 12th annual Tribeca Film Festival announced a selection of their lineup.
On Tuesday the festival announced 46 of the 89 feature films that will make up this year's lineup. The films announced were from the narrative and documentary competitions as well as the selections in the "Viewpoints" section.
The festival announced that the films selected were chosen out of 6,000 submissions. The festival will open on April 17th with the documentary "Mistaken Strangers" about the Brooklyn rock band the National.
The opening night of the narrative competition will be Lance Edmand's "Bluebird" starring Amy Morton, Adam Driver of "Girls," John Slattery and Margo Martindale. The film tells the events in a Maine logging town. Other films playing in the narrative competition include "Sunlight Jr." starring Naomi Watts as a convenience store employee and Matt Dillion as a paraplegic and "Hide your Smiling Faces" by Daniel Patrick Carbone.
The documentary competition will begin with Rachel Boynton's "Big Men." The film was produced by Brad Pitt and tells the story about corrupt oil companies in Africa. The Russell Crowe narrated "Red Obsessions" will screen as well as a documentary on Michael Haneke entitled on "Michael H. Profession."
Also playing in the documentary competition are "Aatsinki: The Story of Arctic Cowboys," "Teenage," "The Genius of Marian," and "Oxyana."
The "Viewpoints" section will offer 22 films including "Run and Jump" which features Forte, the former "Saturday Night Live" cast members. Ben Kingsley's new film "A Birder's Guide to Everything," Jennifer Jason Leigh's "The Moment and a New York street performance documentary "Flex is King" are also in the lineup.
Tribeca will announce the rest of the lineup on Wednesday. The festival ends on the 28th of April. For the full lineup, click HERE.
