The season premiere of "The Voice" does not take place for another few weeks, but NBC has begun to promote their new judge Shakira.
A new video preview showcases Shakira's multi-faceted approach as both a tough and sweet judge. The footage also shows her as a motivational judge, telling contestants that she knows how hard it is to get to the top as an aspiring singer. In the video, Shakira says that she never thought it was going to be as tough as it was, and that the show has brought out her feisty character. She also warns her fellow judges Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Usher to "Never underestimate a 5'3" Colombian girl."
Shelton also comments stating "Shakira is so sweet and beautiful... and then the claws come out."
In a recent interview Shakira said "I haven't done anything like this before in my life, so it is totally an adventure to me. It's just a really nice journey. I'm glad I'm here. I'm' really thrilled."
The Colombian singer replaces former judge Christina Aguilera who decided to give the show a rest to resume touring with her new album. Shakira recently hit headlines showing off her slim post pregnancy figure at director Jaume de Laiguna's exhibition. She gave birth to her first child Milan with soccer player Gerard Pique. After the birth of her son she posted the picture of Milan on the UNICEF website; the image showed Pique planting a kiss on the right cheek of their son. According to CBS news, Shakira was promoting the picture to help raise money for UNICEF. The singer was accepting donations of $5 - $110 in celebration of Milan's Jan 22 birth.
"The Voice" airs on March 25 at 8 pm EST on NBC with Carson Daley as the host.
