Will the Chicago Blackhawks ever lose in regulation? The Blackhawks will look to record their 21st straight game without a regulation loss when they take the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday evening.
Chicago has played 20 games and has not lost one in regulations; in fact the team has lost three times all season and all of the losses have come in the shootout. Chicago has also won seven straight games. "We've had some good games to date, but that might have been the best," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "I just think we're taking pride in playing the game that's in front of us, being consistent and everyone challenging and pushing one another."
"At the end of the day when you have a chance to sit down and analyze what's going on, we haven't done that in here, but looking at our road record, that is very impressive," Blackhawks forward Patrick added about the impressive run. "It speaks a lot to the preparation of our coaches and players that put into every game.
The team is coming off a 3-0 win over the St. Louis Blues that saw them lose starting goalie Corey Crawford to injury.
"These guys played a really good defensive game," Backup keeper Ray Emery stated about the shutout over the Blues. "I was kind of surprised going in there in the second period, but you have to be prepared for that. That's why I'm here. I thought it was a really complete game for the guys."
Meanwhile Columbus has only won twice in its last 11 and remains in the Western Conference cellar. The team has lost three straight overall, including a 5-4 overtime loss to Dallas. "Blocking a shot, picking up a man or making a big save ... we couldn't get a big stop tonight," forward Mark Letestu said after the loss to Dallas. "Four goals should be enough to win a hockey game. Defensively, we have to be better. Just in every way."
Prediction: Chicago wins 5-2.
