NBA legend and Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan's newest home, a lakefront property in his home state of North Carolina, cost him $2.8 million.
Jordan's new house, a spacious 12,3010-square foot estate in Cornelius, N.C., is roughly 22 miles north of uptown Charlotte, where the Bobcats, with an NBA-low 13-44 win-loss record, play at the Time Warner Cable Arena.
According to the Associated Press, the Jordan Family Gift Trust bought the home--located on Lake Moran and ahte seventh hole of The Peninsula Gold Club--on Feb. 19 from First Community Bank. The house was previously in foreclosure.
It's apparently cozy digs for Jordan, the house being described in the listing as having six bedrooms and eight bathrooms and a "stunning panoramic lake views from almost every room."
Jordan has an estimated net worth of $680 million.
Since he sold his mansion in Chicago, this latest property is Jordan's latest purchase after buying a 28,000-square foot home in Jupiter, Fla., for $12.8 million last year. The Florida mansion is also made to handle mass amounts of cigar smoke for Jordan, a cigar aficionado.
With new digs in North Carolina, where he led the UNC Tar Heels to the 1983 NCAA Championship, Jordan, a six-time NBA champion, will be able to keep a closer eye on the Bobcats , which he is trying to lift out of the doldrums of the NBA.
Over the last two seasons, the team has compiled a 20-103 win-loss record not having made the playoffs since the 2009-10 season. With another lottery year looking inevitable, Jordan will want to be making some major moves soon. And it looks like he won't have to go far to do it.
