Another Hollywood powerhouse couple has headed to splitsville as Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen have officially broken up, reports Us Weekly.
The 34-year-old "The Vow" actress and the 44-year-old "Twilight" actor were together for two and a half years. They met on the set of Woody Allen's film "Midnight in Paris" in 2010. However, McAdams confirmed that their relationship was strictly platonic while they were filming and that they become romantically involved thereafter.
"I feel strongly about not doing [that] when I'm working," she told The Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine in January 2012. "We became quite good friends, which I think is a great way to start. I felt very blessed to have made a Woody Allen film in Paris together."
MacAdams also revealed that she values trust and good communication in her relationships. "You need to trust each other and be able to talk to each other and be best friends," she said.
The couple decided to go public with their relationship in October 2010 and they remained devoted to making it work despite their hectic schedules. "Michael and I never spend more than three weeks apart -- we rack up a lot of air miles -- but you have to be quite adaptable in this business whether you are in a relationship or not," she told Stella.
Before dating Sheen, the "Mean Girls" actress hooked up to her "The Notebook" costar Ryan Gosling, whom she began dating in 2005 and was briefly engaged to before they ended their romance in 2007.
The British actor dated actress Kate Beckinsale from 1995 until 2003. They have a 14-year-old daughter together named Lily.
