Tonight, in Big Ten action, the fourth-ranked Michigan Wolverines (23-4, 10-4 Big Ten) take on the struggling Nittany Lions (8-18, 0-14 Big Ten) who are yet to win a conference game this year.
In fact, Penn State hasn't won a Big Ten match-up since Feb. 16, 2012 when they defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Despite the mismatch, Jermaine Marshall and Sasa Borovnjak kept the game close the last time these two teams faced off.
Marshall and Borovnjak had 17 points apiece while D.J. Newbill and Ross Travis added 11 more each in the 79-71 defeat that saw the team from Happy Valley lead by as many as eight points in the first half.
However, the Wolverines closed the gap quickly and the two teams went into the locker room at the half in a 32-32 deadlock.
Trey Burke scored a season-high 29 points while adding three rebounds, five assists and two steals in the winning effort. Glenn Robinson III matched his career high of 21 points and added 10 rebounds, giving him the double-double.
It was a strong showing for Robinson III after matching a season low two points in a drubbing at the hands of in-state rival, the Michigan State Spartans.
Michigan is coming off back-to-back wins for the first time this month and is looking to secure a number one seed in the Big Dance in March.
The Wolverines will try to further their momentum and avoid the fate suffered by all three ranked teams on Super Tuesday that saw three major upsets at the hands of unranked teams for No. 1 Indiana, No. 8 Florida, and No. 19 Memphis.
Down the stretch, the Wolverines face tough match-ups against ninth-ranked Michigan State, Purdue, and current No. 1 Indiana; all three being Big Ten Conference games.
