During the last few months, Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has repeatedly stated that he misses his first home in Manchester United and that he is open to the possibility of returning to his former club. A recent report indicates that the team may be preparing a 55 million pound bid to bring back the prodigal son.
According to UK publications The Mirror and Sports Bulletin, the team is preparing a bid that includes $55 million euros in cash and the transfers of Nani and Javier Hernandez. Nani has seen his playtime with Sir Alex Ferguson diminish while Hernandez is a young player that fits into Madrid president Florentino Perez's desire to rebuild the team through youth.
Transfer rumors regarding Ronaldo circulated during the January window, but the superstar stated that he would stay with Madrid until his contract expires in 2015. "I want to see out my contract at Real Madrid, I'm very clear about that. After that, well, I don't know what'll happen in the future," claimed Ronaldo. However, it seems that the star player's inability to sign a new contract for Madrid has forced Perez's hand and reports indicate that he has decided to sell Ronaldo this summer.
Ronaldo has expressed a desire to return "home" to Manchester United. "It felt very good there, it was like a family. I had six great years there and am still friends with my team-mates," Ronaldo stated. "It is thanks to Manchester United that I am here playing for Real Madrid. Without them, I wouldn't be the player I am today."
The teams played two weeks ago in the first leg of the Champions League and drew 1-1; Ronaldo scored Madrid's lone goal but did not celebrate. The second leg will be played on March 5 at the Old Trafford when Ronaldo will make his first appearance at his first home since his move to Madrid.
